Economic, Idealogy, Political, Religious Causes

Economic, idealogy, political, religous causes

By: Greg Wilde
This article talks about the possible causes of war. The author sides with the idea of peace and mentions how religion and economic status play a role in the causes of war. He specifically references eliminating hunger, thirst, overpopulation, discrimination, poor education and poverty to reduce the risk of war. Peace can arise through the elimination of these problems.

  • Review Notes: Factors that contribute to the start of a war would be economic stability, political stability, and tensions between groups. When the economy becomes unstable, hunger and violence arise as a result causing civil problems. An example would be the Spanish Civil war, which led to rural unrest and an unbalanced economic status between the high class and low class individuals leading to an outbreak of violence for food. This can also lead to vulnerability of the country itself. Political issues can lead to people have unfair rights and disagreeable political situations. This can lead up to civil problems as well as new leaders to rise in power. An example would be how Stalin got into power eliminating his enemies and political enemies, which caused him to come into complete power. Tensions between groups can cause war between groups. An example would be the Algerian War, where Muslims were rebelling against the French who were colonizing in the country of Algeria.

  1. Joyce's response: This article is about how peace influences relations in the world and how religion influences how peace should be made. The author states that by creating peace discrimination and equality should be eliminated. The article helped me understand how the causes of war can affect a nation through poverty and discrimination against opposing forces. The article also talk about lack of education, poverty, and overpopulation can lead to war.

Political Cartoon: this political cartoon would help me on a paper by demonstrating the different causes of war. This political cartoon specifically shows causes of World War I.

The notes help me understand the different causes of the Algerian war, Spanish civil war, and tensions between political leaders. Most causes of wars are cause by want for rise to power or inequality between certain groups of people. The notes also talk about the economic consequences of war after-math.
